Meet Kate Hargadon, MS, AMFT
At our core, I believe humans are all seeking connection and meaning. And in a world that sometimes feels overwhelming and isolating, it can be difficult to understand what disconnects us from self and others. While I don't believe therapy is the only avenue to healing, I find it profoundly impactful for those who are ready to grow, change and reconnect.
I incorporate curiosity and humor, compassionate listening, and a mind-body approach to guide my clients in creating supportive internal narratives, embracing their emotions, and trusting their intuition. I encourage my clients' personal growth by gently challenging them, fostering exploration through thoughtful questioning and introspection. My approach is rooted in a holistic perspective, and I value considering how our context and culture influences how we move through the world.
I enjoy working with clients on issues of communication, relationship conflict, and self-discovery. I work primarily with individuals, couples/relationships, and adult families, and I am an LGBTQ+ and non-monogamy-affirming clinician. Whether you come to therapy alone, with a partner(s), or a family member, I genuinely look forward to joining you on this journey.
I hold a Master’s degree in Couple and Family Therapy from Purdue University and am certified in the Gottman Method. I use an Attachment-Based approach to therapy, often utilizing Emotionally-Focused Therapy (EFT), Narrative Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Feminist Therapy.
A Chicago transplant who loves the city, I enjoy listening to live music, cold plunging in Lake Michigan, and spending time with my loved ones (ideally while dancing or walking the dog).
