Meet Allison Schentrup, Lmft

I want to help you choose the life you want. When we’re stuck in patterns of disconnection, we inevitably choose ineffective or painful ways of engaging with the world. By strengthening our connection with ourselves, our loved ones, and our passions, we can move towards a purpose led, pleasure-full life.

Couples

In my couples work, I focus on helping partners rediscover intimate connection, learn more effective and compassionate ways of communicating, and rebuild trust. Some areas I focus on specifically are infidelity, co-parenting, and mismatched desire.

Individuals

I help people with all manner of relationships, whether you’re wanting to deepen friendships, find love, or understand your family. I also help with managing anxiety, exploring and reformulating spiritual beliefs, and healing harmful messages around body image.

My approach is culturally inclusive, LGBTQ+ affirming, and I especially enjoy supporting people in service- artists, activists, healers, and teachers.

As a master’s student I received a year long training in Gestalt awareness practices which is my primary methodology. I also draw on feminist, systematic, and transpersonal theories to create a therapy space that centers you within the context of your family, community, and the world.

Using a warm, direct style, I invite intellectual grappling as well as somatic (body-oriented) and spiritual experiencing. In addition to talking, therapy with me might include meditation, writing exercises, use of tarot or oracle cards, and exploring dreams.

I received my M.A. in Integral Counseling Psychology from California Institute of Integral Studies and a B.A. in Sustainability and Social Justice from San Francisco State University.
