This is an informational workshop for educational purposes only. This training is not on how to "do" psychedelic therapy. It is a workshop to inform clinicians about psychedelic treatment options from a decolonial lens. Topics will include:
Decolonizing Psychedelics: Power, Identity, and Western Models
Psychedelic Therapy 101 - brief definition, history, and how we got to where we are.
Illinois/US legalization process (What is legal and what is not)
Primary modalities for psychedelic therapy
Working Systemically (individual, dyadic, and groups)

Location: This training will occur online on our Zoom platform. A link will be provided 24 hours in advance. This training will not be recorded.
Learning Objectives:
To gain knowledge about the history and use of psychedelics in therapeutic environments from a decolonial lens.
To inform clinicians about what is available and gain clarity on the legalization efforts in Illinois.
For participants to think and engage systemically when thinking about psychedelic therapy.
Presenter Bio:
Meredith Merchant, AMFT, MED received her Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy and Post-Graduate Fellowship in Mindfulness and Behavior Therapy from Northwestern University. During her clinical training, I completed The Family Institute's Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) internship and the community program practicum. She helped individuals, couples, and families work through complex, intergenerational issues. She also holds a master's degree in education. She worked as a professional educator for over a decade before becoming a relational therapist.
Currently, Meredith is enrolled in Naropa University's 150-hour postgraduate Certificate in Psychedelic-Assisted Therapies (C-PAT) program. This non-degree certificate provides advanced professionals working in relevant therapeutic areas with an in-depth education in essential aspects of psychedelic-assisted therapy, trauma-informed care, and spiritual integration.
